About us

This is a recipe website for people who love food from other countries but cook in an ordinary kitchen. No restaurant equipment, no cupboard full of gadgets. Just clear recipes that tell you what really matters.

Why we started

It started with a paella. The recipe asked for a paella pan, saffron and bomba rice, and we had none of them. Online, half the advice said the dish was impossible without a real paella pan, the other half said any pan would do. Nobody explained what actually makes the difference.

We found out that many home cooks run into the same wall. They see a dish on holiday or on Instagram, want to try it at home, and give up because the recipe makes everything sound required. Others buy a tool, use it once and put it in a cupboard. Borderless Cooking is our answer to that.

How every recipe works

Must-have

The tools and ingredients that decide the result. Without them, the dish will not turn out the way it should.

Nice to have

Things that make cooking easier or the result a little better. Worth buying if you cook the dish often.

Cooking tips

The little tricks that make the dish work, and what to do if something doesn’t go as planned in the pan.

Who is behind Borderless Cooking

My name is Wen Sun and I make Borderless Cooking. I was born in China, a country built on good food, and I have always believed that cooking is in my DNA. After I moved to the Netherlands, I kept cooking every day, however busy I was. I love travelling to other countries, and the first thing I do in a new place is find a local restaurant and try the most authentic food I can. If I like it, I try to cook it myself at home. Every recipe on this site is tested in my small kitchen with ordinary tools, so you know it works in yours too.

We cook dishes from Spain, Italy, China, Portugal and more, and every month we add a new country. Tell us on Instagram which dish you want to see next.
